Human Enterovirus 70 (HEV70) and Human Enterovirus 71 (HEV71) are two common enteroviruses that can cause a variety of illnesses, ranging from mild febrile illnesses to severe neurological diseases such as encephalitis and meningitis. The viral capsid of HEV70 and HEV71 is composed of various proteins, including VP3, VP2, and VP1. Here’s what you need to know about these proteins:

VP3: This protein is an inner surface protein that forms a complex with VP0 to form the protomer of the viral capsid. It plays a critical role in viral replication and uncoating of the virus.

VP2: This protein is a surface protein that is involved in viral entry and host cell receptor recognition. It plays a critical role in the initial stages of viral infection.

VP1: This protein is a major capsid protein and is responsible for most of the antigenic determinants of the virus. It is involved in virus assembly, viral entry, and host cell receptor recognition. VP1 is highly immunogenic and is often used as a diagnostic marker for HEV70 and HEV71 infections.

Understanding the functions of these proteins is important for developing effective therapies and vaccines for HEV70 and HEV71. As with other enteroviruses, the transmission of these viruses can be prevented by practicing good hygiene, such as frequent hand washing and avoiding contact with infected individuals. If you suspect you have been infected with HEV70 or HEV71, seek medical attention immediately to ensure prompt and appropriate treatment.

The use of recombinant proteins/cDNA in academic research and therapeutic applications has skyrocketed. However, in heterologous expression systems, successful recombinant protein expression is dependent on a variety of factors, including codon preference, RNA secondary structure, and GC content. When compared to pre-optimization, more and more experimental results demonstrated that the expression level was dramatically increased, ranging from two to hundred times depending on the gene. Bioclone has created a proprietary technology platform that has resulted in the creation of over 6,000 artificially synthesized codon-optimized cDNA clones (cloned in E.coli expression Vector), which are ready for production of the recombinant proteins.
