Human adenoviruses (AdV) are a group of viruses that cause a variety of illnesses, ranging from mild respiratory infections to more severe diseases such as conjunctivitis, gastroenteritis, and keratoconjunctivitis. There are over 50 known serotypes of human AdV, each with a unique genome. The AdV genome is a linear double-stranded DNA molecule that ranges in size from 20 to 45 kilobases.
