Fowl Adenovirus (FAdV) is a group of viruses that can cause a variety of diseases in poultry, including respiratory disease, hepatitis, and gizzard erosion. FAdV is prevalent worldwide and can have significant economic impacts on the poultry industry, particularly in broiler chicken production.

The 528 Hexon, Fiber protein, 33 kDa protein, 52/55 kDa protein, C serotype 10 Capsid protein, and DDO-2007 Hexon protein are essential components of FAdV virions. The 528 Hexon protein is a major component of the viral capsid and provides protection for the viral genome. The Fiber protein plays a crucial role in binding to host cell receptors and facilitating viral entry. The 33 kDa protein, 52/55 kDa protein, C serotype 10 Capsid protein, and DDO-2007 Hexon protein are also involved in capsid formation and stability.

FAdV is primarily transmitted through direct contact with infected birds or their excretions, but it can also spread through contaminated equipment, feed, or water. Infections can lead to reduced growth rates, poor feed conversion, and increased mortality in poultry. FAdV infection can be particularly severe in young birds, and in some cases, can result in complete flock losses.

Understanding the structure and function of the key FAdV proteins is critical for the development of effective control measures and diagnostic tools for this important poultry pathogen. Ongoing research into the molecular mechanisms of FAdV pathogenesis and transmission is essential for the continued health and welfare of poultry populations globally.

The use of recombinant proteins/cDNA in academic research and therapeutic applications has skyrocketed. However, in heterologous expression systems, successful recombinant protein expression is dependent on a variety of factors, including codon preference, RNA secondary structure, and GC content. When compared to pre-optimization, more and more experimental results demonstrated that the expression level was dramatically increased, ranging from two to hundred times depending on the gene. Bioclone has created a proprietary technology platform that has resulted in the creation of over 6,000 artificially synthesized codon-optimized cDNA clones (cloned in E. coli expression Vector), which are ready for production of the recombinant proteins.
