Ctenocephalides felis cDNA and recombinant antigen
Ctenocephalides felis, also known as the cat flea, is a common ectoparasite that feeds on the blood of cats and dogs, as well as other mammalian hosts including humans. Flea bites can cause several symptoms, including itching, redness, swelling, and rash. In some people, exposure to flea bites can trigger an allergic reaction, which can be severe and require medical attention.
Salivary Antigen 1 (FS-I) Allergen Cte f 1 is a major allergen associated with flea bites. It is a protein that is secreted by the flea’s salivary glands during feeding and is known to stimulate an immune response in humans. Exposure to this antigen can cause an allergic reaction in sensitive individuals, and may lead to symptoms such as itching, hives, swelling, and difficulty breathing.
If you are allergic to flea bites, it is important to take steps to prevent exposure to these pests. This may include regular use of flea control products on your pets, as well as thorough cleaning of your home and yard to remove any potential breeding sites for fleas. If you do experience an allergic reaction to flea bites, seek medical attention right away. Your doctor may recommend antihistamines, corticosteroids, or other medications to help manage your symptoms and prevent complications.
The use of recombinant proteins/cDNA in academic research and therapeutic applications has skyrocketed. However, in heterologous expression systems, successful recombinant protein expression is dependent on a variety of factors, including codon preference, RNA secondary structure, and GC content. When compared to pre-optimization, more and more experimental results demonstrated that the expression level was dramatically increased, ranging from two to hundred times depending on the gene. Bioclone has created a proprietary technology platform that has resulted in the creation of over 6,000 artificially synthesized codon-optimized cDNA clones (cloned in E. coli expression Vector), which are ready for production of the recombinant proteins.
