Babesia gibsoni is a tick-borne hemoprotozoan parasite that infects dogs, causing canine babesiosis. The disease is characterized by fever, anemia, jaundice, and hemoglobinuria, and can be fatal if left untreated. Babesia gibsoni is transmitted by the brown dog tick (Rhipicephalus sanguineus) and can also be transmitted by blood transfusion or contaminated needles.
