Shigella boydii Serotype 18 is a type of bacteria that causes infection in humans. This bacteria has certain proteins known as virulence factors, which are responsible for its ability to cause disease. The virulence factors of Shigella boydii Serotype 18 include Invasin Protein IpaD, IpaH1.4, IpaH7.8, and OspD2.

Invasin Protein IpaD is a protein that helps the bacteria invade the cells of the human body. IpaH1.4 and IpaH7.8 are proteins that interfere with the immune system of the host, making it easier for the bacteria to cause infection. OspD2 is a protein that helps the bacteria survive and replicate within the host cells.

These virulence factors work together to help Shigella boydii Serotype 18 evade the immune system, invade cells, and cause disease. Understanding these virulence factors is important for developing effective treatments and preventive measures against infections caused by this bacteria.

The use of recombinant proteins/cDNA in academic research and therapeutic applications has skyrocketed. However, in heterologous expression systems, successful recombinant protein expression is dependent on a variety of factors, including codon preference, RNA secondary structure, and GC content. When compared to pre-optimization, more and more experimental results demonstrated that the expression level was dramatically increased, ranging from two to hundred times depending on the gene. Bioclone has created a proprietary technology platform that has resulted in the creation of over 6,000 artificially synthesized codon-optimized cDNA clones (cloned in E. coli expression Vector), which are ready for production of the recombinant proteins.

The cDNA and recombinant antigens of this bacteria can be used to develop vaccines and diagnostic tests to prevent and diagnose the disease. Vaccines containing cDNA and recombinant antigens are designed to trigger the body’s immune system to recognize the foreign proteins and produce antibodies against them. This process helps the body to develop immunity against the disease-causing organism. In addition, recombinant antigens can be used to develop diagnostic tests, such as ELISA and Western blot, that are used to detect the presence of Shigella boydii in a sample. These tests can be useful in identifying infected individuals and helping to prevent the spread of the disease.
