Simian adenovirus is a type of adenovirus that can infect and cause disease in various species of monkeys. It encodes for numerous proteins, including E3 31.4 kDa, 19 kDa, E3 22.5 kDa, E3 19.5 kDa, E3 31 kDa, E3 22.3 kDa, 33 kDa, 100 kDa, 55 kDa, 13S, 13.2 kDa, 14.7 kDa, 22.3 kDa, 16 kDa, VP, 54.7 kDa, 11 kDa, E4 34 kDa protein, E3 RID-alpha, E3 CR1-beta1, E3 CR1-alpha1, PVIII, Protease, 52 kDa protein, E1B 55 kDa protein, E1B 19 kDa protein, and Early E1A 28 kDa protein. These proteins play various roles in the virus lifecycle, including viral replication, evasion of host immune response, and modulation of host cellular processes. Some of these proteins have also been studied for their potential use in the development of vaccines and gene therapy vectors.

One of the most well-studied proteins of simian adenovirus is the E1A 28 kDa protein, which plays a critical role in viral replication and transcriptional regulation. The E1B 55 kDa and 19 kDa proteins are also essential for efficient viral replication by promoting viral mRNA export and inhibiting host antiviral responses, respectively.

The E3 region of the virus encodes for several proteins, including the E3 31 kDa, 22.5 kDa, 19.5 kDa, 31.4 kDa, and 22.3 kDa proteins, which have been shown to play a role in modulating host immune responses. The E3 33 kDa protein and its homolog, the E3 13S protein, are involved in immune evasion by preventing the presentation of viral antigens on the surface of infected cells, thereby inhibiting the activation of CD8+ T cells.

Other proteins encoded by simian adenovirus include the 100 kDa and 55 kDa proteins, which have been suggested to be involved in virion assembly, as well as the 13.2 kDa and 14.7 kDa proteins, which have been implicated in modulating host cell signaling pathways. Additionally, the VP (vertex protein), protease, and PVIII proteins are structural components of the virus particle, while the E4 34 kDa protein is involved in DNA replication and has been studied as a potential gene therapy vector.

Overall, the study of simian adenovirus and its proteins has provided valuable insights into the mechanisms of viral replication and immune evasion, as well as potential applications in the development of viral vectors for gene therapy and vaccine development.

The use of recombinant proteins/cDNA in academic research and therapeutic applications has skyrocketed. However, in heterologous expression systems, successful recombinant protein expression is dependent on a variety of factors, including codon preference, RNA secondary structure, and GC content. When compared to pre-optimization, more and more experimental results demonstrated that the expression level was dramatically increased, ranging from two to hundred times depending on the gene. Bioclone has created a proprietary technology platform that has resulted in the creation of over 6,000 artificially synthesized codon-optimized cDNA clones (cloned in E.coli expression Vector), which are ready for production of the recombinant proteins.
