Rabbit hemorrhagic disease virus (RHDV) is a highly infectious virus that affects rabbits, hares, and pikas, causing significant economic losses in the agricultural industry. The virus has several proteins that are important in viral replication and pathogenesis.

The minor capsid protein of RHDV is a structural protein that forms the outer shell of the virus particle. The capsid protein and VP60 are also structural proteins that make up most of the viral particle. These proteins are important for the stability and infectivity of the virus and are targeted by the host immune system during infection.

In addition to these structural proteins, RHDV also has several non-structural proteins, including p16, p18, p23, and p29, which are important in viral replication and pathogenesis. These proteins are involved in processes such as virus assembly, immune evasion, and modulation of host cell functions.

RHDV infections can cause significant morbidity and mortality in susceptible animals, and there are currently no effective treatments for the disease. Ongoing research is focused on understanding the roles of these proteins in viral pathogenesis and host immune response, and developing effective treatments and prevention strategies for RHDV infections.

The use of recombinant proteins/cDNA in academic research and therapeutic applications has skyrocketed. However, in heterologous expression systems, successful recombinant protein expression is dependent on a variety of factors, including codon preference, RNA secondary structure, and GC content. When compared to pre-optimization, more and more experimental results demonstrated that the expression level was dramatically increased, ranging from two to hundred times depending on the gene. Bioclone has created a proprietary technology platform that has resulted in the creation of over 6,000 artificially synthesized codon-optimized cDNA clones (cloned in E. coli expression Vector), which are ready for production of the recombinant proteins.
